Training Course on NDC Capacity Building for Advanced Web-Grape Users

OBJECTIVES

  • Improving the knowledge on post-processing of ATM outputs (SRS files) and how it can help in establishing the verification regime and in civil and scientific applications of IMS data.
  • Refining user skills of Web-Grape functionalities available in the NDC-in-a-Box package and in its online Web-Grape Internet Based Service (Web-Grape-IBS).
  • Promoting the exchange of experience and expertise in ATM and Web-Grape among the NDCs.
     


AGENDA

  • Accessing IMS data and IDC products.
  • Live demonstration and hands-on exercises on advanced functionalities available in Web-Grape like: Continuously Emitting Sources (CES), Network Coverage (NC), Data Fusion, Possible Source Region (PSR) – all available algorithms, Multiple Model Field-of-Regard (MMFOR);
  • In-depth analysis of real events using Web-Grape.



PARTICIPANT PROFILE

  • NDC technical staff/authorized users (preferably Principal or Regular User).
  • Experts involved in applying and developing radionuclide monitoring, atmospheric transport modelling (ATM) and data fusion methods.
  • Web-Grape basic skills and Linux background are desirable.

 

APPLICATION PROCEDURES

Applicants are requested to submit the following registration form: 


NDC technical staff are invited to submit their applications for this training through established official channels (their Permanent Missions to the CTBTO or Ministries of Foreign Affairs).

Applications are to be submitted by the deadline of 8 April 2024.  Applications will be reviewed and applicants subsequently notified. 

However, pending the official nomination, participants may email the registration form upon its approval by a director of the institution, to allow timely travel and accommodation arrangements by the PTS.

Note – Applicants are encouraged to consider applying to the “International Atmospheric Transport Modelling Workshop 2024” which will be held in the same week (3 – 5 July) at the VIC.
 


FINANCIAL INFORMATION 

In accordance with the Staff regulations and rules and Administrative Directives, the PTS will provide the following:

  • A round-trip ticket to Vienna on the most direct and economic route;
  • Funded participants are not allowed to purchase their own tickets unless, under exceptional circumstances, they are authorized to do so in advance, and only if this proves to be the most cost-effective option for the PTS;
  • The PTS will book a hotel and cover the costs for the accommodation. Training participants will receive relevant portion of the Daily Subsistence Allowance (per-diem) via bank transfer upon arrival to the first day of the training course; and
  • Health and accident insurance will be provided for the duration of the training, including travel days.

Requirement: Scanned passport copies.
 

OTHER PERTINENT INFORMATION

Technical Requirements for Arrangements of Participants' workplace

  • Speed of Internet connection not less than 10 Mbps.
     
  • Computer to be used during the online training course:
    - Desktop with two connected monitors or laptop with one external monitor.
    - CPU ≥ 4 cores, RAM ≥ 8GB.
    - Virtualization Technology (VT-x) is supported by hardware and enabled.
    - Windows Operating system is preferable.
     
  • Headset for high-quality audio and web camera.


Visas
Participants should apply for visas, if needed, at the corresponding consular office, upon receipt of an acceptance Note Verbale from the Secretariat, in order to ensure timely processing.
