2004 CTBTO Essay Competition: Winner Announced!

The Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization is pleased to announce that the winning entry in the 2004 CTBTO Essay Competition was submitted by Mr Er-Win Tan. Mr Tan holds a BSc in International Relations and History from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a MA in Strategic Studies from the Australian National University. He is currently studying for a PhD in International Politics at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth. Mr Tan's essay, on the title 'Ending Nuclear Tests: the Important Role of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty', examines the importance of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty as a norm of conduct in international relations, as well as a practical instrument for arms control.
