Would you like to learn about the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) but are not sure where to start? It is now possible to learn the basics of the CTBT in one hour – in seven different languages. The Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) has launched a new e-learning tutorial on the basics on the CTBT, available in:

The modules are a free, simple and easy-to-use tool for anyone who wants to quickly catch up with the fundamentals of the CTBT and its verification system, including the detection of the announced nuclear tests by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, the CTBTO response to the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant Accident and the civil and scientific applications of the verification technologies.
The modules can be used as an educational and informational resource and can be taken at the user’s own pace. Each module contains text, images, videos and a 5-question mini quiz so that participants can test their knowledge.
The Tutorial also showcases the CTBTO e-learning platform, a part of the education and outreach activities of the CTBTO, aimed at inspiring the next generation of experts in all aspects of the Treaty. These activities are composed of live lecture courses in Vienna and streamed live online; e-learning through the specialised e-learning platform and a dedicated CTBTO iTunes U channel; and global partnerships with universities through the Test Ban Academic Network (T-BAN). The Tutorial is hosted on the CTBTO’s e-learning platform.
