CTBTO holds virtual WGA policy meeting in all UN languages
The Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) has held a virtual meeting of its Working Group A in all six official United Nations languages – the first policy-making meeting by a Vienna-based international organization to be held remotely with simultaneous interpretation.
More than 140 participants from delegations of 97 member states joined the meeting remotely because of continuing restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

My sincere thanks to Ambassadors and delegations participating in our first virtual ‘Working Group A’ meeting to ensure the CTBTO continues to deliver on its important work to end nuclear testing.
Interpreters from the UN Office at Vienna used specialist software to provide simultaneous translation in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.
The meeting, held on 1 June, addressed budgetary and administrative issues. It was chaired by Namibia’s Ambassador Nada Kruger.
