CTBTO PrepCom Home Page launched
The Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO PrepCom) is launching its home page on the Internet on 24 September, one year after the Treaty was opened for signature on 24 September 1996.
The CTBTO PrepCom page on the Internet World Wide Web is set up under four thematic categories: "Treaty", "Signature and Ratification", "Verification" and "Organization". A series of access points leads the user to further information without having to return to a main menu.
Under "Treaty", for example, users will find a summary as well as the official English text of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty. Under "Signature and Ratification", a list of the 146 States that have signed the Treaty and the seven that have ratified it can be found as well as the dates of signature and deposit of instruments of ratification. Under "Verification", a consolidated list can be found of the 337 seismic, infrasound, hydroacoustic and radionuclide monitoring facilities that will monitor compliance with the Treaty. Under "Organization", information can be found on the CTBTO PrepCom, which started work at its offices in Vienna on 17 March 1997.
